COMM 228 (Performance) Assignments

# 1, Due: Wednesday, Feb. 11
Pick a radio show from This American Life. Listen to an entire program. Then pick two episodes in the program and offer a brief synopsis for us on your blog. Then outline them like we did in class. Use your own system of outlining but pay attention to the following:
1) The alternation of anecdote and reflection.
2) How transitions occur, including with music and silence.
3) How music is used to create a setting or mood and reinforce drama or humor.
4) How silence is used.
5) What the characters or interviewees learn (or how they change) in the course of the story.
6) Memorable lines.

# 2, Due: Monday, Feb. 9
Set up a new blog for your group. One group member should get the blog online and then send invitations to the other group members to join the blog. This can be done by navigating to Settings/Members. Other group members will receive an email with a link to join. The founding member must then go back to Settings/Members and grant administrative access to all group members after they have signed up.
The group blog will be a place to list group resources, such as computers, audio applications, recording equipment, roles of each member, project and progress. I will explain tomorrow in class.

# 3, Due: Monday, Feb. 9
For Monday record a brief audio interview to your blog on the topic of fashion at Denison. You may interview one or more people. Have fun with it. You may use a regular phone or mobile phone. Use Audblog.
