WARNING
If you haven't paid for Newzcrawler and you've been renewing the "trial" period, it will soon expire (as it has for at least two students now) and will no longer work. Apparently you will lose all of your feeds. I do not know if you'll regain these feeds if you pay for it after the fact. So if you're using Newzcrawler and you haven't paid for it yet, beware. It would be smart to pay for it before it expires for the final time.

Everyone should check out this new poem by John Updike, "Duet on Mars".
Speaking of mars, I'm also reading a great sci fi novel called Red Mars.

I just emailed reminders to all of you about our upcoming group meetings. If there are any discrepancies between my schedule and yours, let me know. You may see the schedule by clicking the "Equipment/Meeting Calendar" link in the "stuff" column on the right side of my blog.

Hey ya'll, those of you who have my equipment (two mics and a mini-cd recorder) please let me know.
My equipment-lending scheduling skills need some sharpening, as it occurs to me that I have promised one mic and the mini-cd recorder to two different groups this weekend, Are we back in high school?? and the secret lives of roller skaters. Whoever who has the mini-cd recorder: are you giving it back tomorrow?
I promise to get this all straight after this weekend.

I emailed my course blog address to one of my best friends who lives in Austin, Tejas, who happens to be gay. He sent back a long reply, but he especially enjoyed penetration station. Here's an excerpt:

His [Wolford's] tale about his roomie who does it with older women & wants to do pregnant women had me laffin out loud...and his most recent rant, the one against homo haters like falwell has me choking down laughter till i teared up.

There is no class tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 27). I will, however, see those of you with whom I have scheduled meetings in the afternoon.

Ivan's dad gives an hilarious, and mostly sanguine account of our Comm Studies blogosphere from a parental point of view.
I think my informal style isn't so different from that of a lot of profs, though having it all documented on the WWW is novel and some might even say risky. As a sage once remarked, "Everyone pees in the pool, but not from the high dive!"
On the other hand, if there's an advantage to being "non-tenure track" faculty it's the ability to take more pedagogical chances. ;)

I just saw this post about Bonnaroo on the universe of wigglebeewoo. Before I moved to Texas, I grew up about 15 miles from Manchester, TN, where Bonnaroo is held (in a town called McMinnville). My parents still live there. If any of you are heading to Bonnaroo this year and you want a more civilized place to crash or a hot shower or a home cooked meal, let me know and I'll set it up for you. My mom makes a mean southern breakfast--country ham, grits, homemade biscuits, apple butter, etc. I'd like to go myself but I can't make it.
